IIHF Centennial All-Star-Team

The IIHF Centennial All-Star Team in May 2008 is a decision taken by the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF selection of the six best hockey player of the 20th century to mark the 100th anniversary of the IIHF.

Voting procedure

A committee consisting of 56 hockey experts from 16 countries, including jointly as an expert voice the editors of the journal The Hockey News, voted to April 2008, which players should be included in the All-Star team. Most votes received Vyacheslav Fetisov the defender, the all but two experts called.

  • Goalkeeper: Vladislav Tretiak ( USSR USSR) - 30 votes.
  • First Defender: Vyacheslav Fetisov ( Soviet Union USSR) - 54 votes
  • Second Defender: Börje Salming (Sweden Sweden) - 17 votes
  • First winger: Valeri Kharlamov ( Soviet Union USSR) - 21 votes
  • Second winger Sergei Makarov ( Soviet Union USSR) - 18 votes
  • Center Wayne Gretzky ( Canada Canada ) - 38 votes
