IIHF Continental Cup 2005

The IIHF Continental Cup 2004 /05 was the eighth edition of the discharged by the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF competition. On 24 September 2004 to 9 January 2005 discharged participated in this tournament 20 teams from 20 countries. The final round was held from 7th to 9th January 2005 at the Hungarian Székesfehérvár.

Three final round participants were set, the host Alba Volán Székesfehérvár and the HKm Zvolen in Slovakia and the HK Dynamo Moscow from Russia, representing the highest ranked countries according to the IIHF World Ranking 2004, which had registered for the tournament. The other finalists were determined in three qualifying rounds.

Qualification

First round

The matches of the first round took place until 26 September 2004 of 24. As a venue for group A acted Miercurea Ciuc the Romanian and in Zagreb the matches in Group B were discharged. Group A

Group B

Second Round

The second round of the Continental Cup was played in three groups from 15 to 17 October 2004. The Group C matches were held in Riga, Latvia, the Group D games in the French Amiens and the meetings of Group E in the Polish Oświęcim.

The winner of Group A, Miercurea Ciuc SC, qualified to participate in group C, while the SC Energia Elektrėnai participated in hosting the group e.

Group C

Group E

The third free place in the third qualifying round was able to secure the Ukrainian representatives HK Sokol Kiev. Group F

Super Final

The Super Final was held to 9 January 2005 at the Hungarian Székesfehérvár of 7. Set were Alba Volán Székesfehérvár as host, the Slovak participants HKm Zvolen and HK Dynamo Moscow of Russia. Moscow had already collected in previous years, multiple experiences in the European Cup and failed between 1997 and 1999 three times in the final of the European Hockey League to eventual winners.
