IIHF European Cup 1970

The Hockey European Cup in season 1969/70 was the fifth edition of the competition of the same name by the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF. The competition began in September 1969; the final was played only in October 1970, so that during the 1970/71 season. A total of 16 teams participated from 15 countries. The CSKA Moscow defended last year's title in the final against Spartak Moscow purely Soviet.

Mode and participants

The country masters of the 1968 /69 European members of the IIHF and the defending HK CSKA Moscow were qualified for the competition. The competition was held in the knockout system in return game. The defending champions CSKA Moscow and Spartak Moscow of the Soviet masters were there set for the semifinals.

Round 3

The games between Klagenfurt and Jihlava took place on 11 and September 12, 1970 on 5 and 6 December 1969, matches between La Chaux- de-Fonds and Leksand.

Semifinal

The defending champions CSKA Moscow and Spartak Moscow of the Soviet masters were set for the semifinals. The games were held on 16 and 18-19. Of September 1970.
