IIHF European Cup 1995

The Hockey European Cup in the 1994 season was the 30th edition of the competition of the same name by the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF. The competition began in October 1994; the final was played in December 1994. A total of 29 teams took part. Jokerit Helsinki won the title.

Mode and participants

The country masters of the Year 1993/94 of the European members of the IIHF were qualified for the competition. The competition was played with a preliminary round in groups in simple mode. Then played from the group winners and runners- places.

Qualification

The qualification round took place from 16 to 18 September 1994 in Zagreb Croatia.

Quarterfinals

The preliminary round of the European Cup was played in five groups from 7 to 9 October 1994.

Group A

The matches of Group A were held in Tilburg in the Netherlands.

Group B

The matches of Group B were held in Budapest in Hungary.

Group C

The Group C matches were held in Riga in Latvia.

Group D

The Group D games were held in Nowy Targ in Poland.

Group E

The games in Group E were held in Feldkirch in Austria.

Semifinal

The semi-final was held from 11 to 13 November 1994.

Group A

The matches of Group A were held in Olomouc in the Czech Republic.

Group B

The matches of Group B were held in Munich. The group winners Hedos Munich had taken the effort to victory in the German Championship in 1994 financially and withdrew from the European Cup. After rejections from other clubs Riga took the place of Munich in the finals.

Group C

The Group C matches were held in Minsk in Belarus.

Group D

The Group D games were played in Kristianstad in Sweden. Initially, they should be held in Malmö Isstadion, but were postponed due to a rock concert in the much smaller Kristian Stader ice rink.

Final tournament

The final tournament was held in Turku and Helsinki, Finland from 26th to 30th December 1994.
