III Corps (United States)

The III Corps ( U.S.) is a major unit of the U.S. Army. The headquarters is located at Fort Hood in Texas. The corps was stationed on 14 December 2006 to 14 February 2008 as the Multi- National Corps Iraq in Baghdad and was directly subordinate to the Multi- National Force Iraq. This task was then XVIII. Transferred Airborne Corps.

Commanding General of the Corps is Lieutenant General Mark A. Milley, succeeding Donald M. Campbell.

The Association has several nicknames standing side by side the Phantom Corps (German "Ghost Corps " ), America's Hammer (Eng. "America's Hammer" ) and the Counter Attack Corps (German "counterattack corps ").
