Ijebu -Ode is a city in Ogun State in Nigeria with 209 191 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2005). She's transport hub and regional trade center.
Ijebu -Ode is an ancient city; it was the capital of the Kingdom of Ijebu, a tribe of the Yoruba in the 16th century. In December 1941, launched Muhammad Jumat Imam ( 1896-1960 ) in Ijebu -Ode its millenarian Mahdiyya movement. Jumat Imam, who came from a Muslim family itself, declared himself the Mahdi and called for unity between Muslims and Christians.
