IK Start

Start Kristiansand ( officially Idrettsklubben start) is a football club based in Kristiansand, Norway. The club was founded on September 19, 1905. Homestead is the Sør Arena with a capacity of 14,500 seats since 2007. The team plays at home in yellow and black and abroad in blue and white Dressen.

History

In the years 1978 and 1980 Starting won the Norwegian championship. 1974, 1976, 1977 and 1978 she took part in the UEFA Cup in 1979 and 1981 at the European Champions Cup. In the season 1977/78 would retire after beating the Icelandic representative Fram Reykjavík in the 2nd round against Eintracht Braunschweig. The following years were less successful. The best place in league was a 3rd place in 1991 and 1992. Starting in 1995, the club ran into financial difficulties. Recently, however, investors could again be obtained, and also the sporting success came again. Since the 2005 season start playing again in the Tippeligaen, the highest Norwegian league, and could reach the second place in the very first season. According to Downs 2007 and 2011, respectively, the direct revival followed in the highest league.

The most successful players of the club is Svein Mathisen, who completed a total of 663 games for IK Start. Of these, 327 games were in the top league, where he scored a total of 106 goals. This keeps Mathisen both the club record for goals scored as well as on completed games.
