Ike Isaacs (Bassist)

Charles Edward "Ike" Isaacs (* March 28, 1923 in Akron, Ohio; † February 27, 1981 in Atlanta, Georgia ) is an American jazz bassist, also trumpeter and sousaphone player.

Isaacs studied trumpet at the Central Music School in Akron and met at 1941 Wendell Marshall bass. A professional career as a bass player, he started in the band of guitarist Tiny Grimes in 1949, he played with Earl Bostic, Mat Mathews and Paul Quinichette (1953 ) as well as Bennie Green ( 1954). In Ohio, he founded the band The Four Maestros. He married in 1956, singer Carmen McRae, he oversaw included in the following year at the Newport Jazz Festival. In 1957, he also worked in a trio by Ray Bryant, 1958/59 in the rhythm section for the vocal trio Lambert, Hendricks & Ross.
