Ilam, also Elam (Persian ایلام, DMG Īlām, Kurdish: ILAM ) is a city in western Iran close to the Iraqi border. It is the capital of the province of Ilam. Near the city is the mountain range Kabir cow.

In 2012, Ilam extrapolated has 20,210 inhabitants.

Climate

Ilam lies at an altitude of 1,319 meters above sea level in the cool mountain region in the west of Iran. The climate is also often influenced by the deserts in the west and the south. Winters are characterized by heavy rain and snow. Summers are particularly hot and dry.
