Ilari Filppula

Ilari Filppula ( born November 5, 1981 in Vantaa ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is under contract with HK CSKA Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League since June 2013. His younger brother Valtteri is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Ilari Filppula started his career as a hockey player with Kiekko -Vantaa, for which he was from 2001 to 2003 in the Mestis, the second- highest division of Finland, active. Then the attacker received a contract with JYP Jyvaskyla of the SM- liiga, for which he was on the ice the following two years. After a one year stint with their league rivals Jokerit Helsinki he returned before the season 2006/ 07 to JYP back. From the 2008/ 09 season, Filppula stood at TPS Turku under contract. At the end of the season 2009/10 was Filppula was awarded TPS Finnish champion, where he was among the Topscorern the league and with the Jari Kurri - trophy.

In June 2010 he signed a contract with the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League, but was sent in September 2010 to the farm team for the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League. Although he was 2010/11 the top scoring player of the Griffins in season and in 76 games scored 64 points scorer, Filppula was never used in the squad of Red Wings. In May 2011, he decided to leave North America and signed a contract for four years with Jokerit. This was dissolved in 2013 and Filppula moved to HK CSKA Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League
