Ilario Pegorari

Ilario Pegorari ( born January 9, 1949 in Caspoggio, † August 17 1982 in New Zealand ) was an Italian alpine skier and coach. Pegorari is twofold Italian Champion in slalom (1972 ) and in combination (1973).

He was one of the early 1970s, along with Gustav Thöni and Piero Gros to the strong Italian slalom and giant slalom team. His best season was 1972/73 when he finished fifth in the World Cup individual competition in the slalom. This season, he scored with a second place in Mont Sainte -Anne and a third place in Naeba also the best individual results of his career.

After ending his playing career Pegorari was coach of the Italian national ski team. He came in 1982 in a car accident in New Zealand killed. With him, the Italian ski racer Bruno Nöckler and his trainer colleague Karl Pichler died.
