The islet (Russian Илеть, mari Элнет, Tatar Илләт / İllät ) is a 204 km long left tributary of the Volga River in the European part of Russia.

Course

The river rises in the east of the Republic of Mari El, about 10 km south of the urban-type settlement Mari - Turek. It first flows in southwestern direction through a wooded flat valley. About 10 km south-east of the settlement Morki it reaches the northwest of the Republic of Tatarstan, where he takes up the Irowka.

After 34 km on Tartar field of islet flows south of Morki back to Mari El. After the confluence of the Aschit it changes its flow direction to the west and meanders gently through the wooded southeast Mari Els East of Krasnogorski opens the Juschut in the islet, which then in turn turns into mainly southwestern and southern directions.

About 5 km north- west of the islet Wolschsk finally reached the Volga River, which forms the border between the Republic of Mari El and Chuvashia here.

Navigability

The islet is navigable in its lower course, in the ice-free period from mid- April to mid-November. As the river is at a major city that shipping plays in contrast to tourist use by boaters not matter much.
