Ilia Averbukh

Ilya Isjaslawowitsch Awerbuch (Russian Илья Изяславович Авербух, born December 18, 1973 in Moscow ) is a retired Russian ice dancer.

In 1979, Awerbuch started with figure skating. He first started with the later Olympic champion Marina Anissina with which he in 1990 and 1992 Junior World Champion was in years. During this time he fell in love with the ice skater Irina Lobatschowa, but still started at this time with Alexei Pospelov.

In 1992, Lobatschowa / Awerbuch separated from their previous Eistanzpartnern and ran together from now on. On 10 March 1995 and married Lobatschowa Awerbuch, her son Martin came in 2004 to the world. In early November 2007, the couple divorced.

Her achievements were winning the silver medal at the 2002 Olympics and winning the World Cup in the same year. They trained with Natalia and Gennadi Linitschuk Karponossow. Awerbuch competed for Dynamo Moscow.

Since the end of his Eistanzkarriere Awerbuch works as a TV journalist and is among other skating commentator. In addition, Awerbuch is the owner of the skating show Ice Symphony.
