Ilkka Mikkola

Ilkka Tapani Mikkola ( born January 18, 1979 in Kiiminki ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is since April 2013 in Lukko Rauma in the SM- liiga under contract.

Career

Oskari Korpikari played at youth level for Kärpät Oulu and has been chosen as a youth player in the NHL Entry Draft in 1997 in the third round than a total of 65 players from the Montreal Canadiens, for whom he never played, however. Prior to the 1998/99 season Mikkola moved to TPS Turku, with which he was master in succession three times before he stood from 2001 to 2003 with Jokerit Helsinki under contract, with whom he also was champion in 2002. Before the season 2003/ 04 Mikkola received a contract with Kärpät Oulu, from whose youth he comes. Since joining Kärpät the defender has won in the years 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008 four more times the Champion title in the SM- liiga, was runner-up in 2003 and 2006 third. He also reached Kärpät in the years 2005 and 2006, twice the final of the IIHF European Champions Cup, where they lost each of the two Russian representatives HK Avangard Omsk and Dynamo Moscow HK. In the years 1998-2008 Mikkola won except for the years 2003 and 2006, eight times the Finnish championship.

In April 2013 Mikkola Kärpät Oulu left and moved to Lukko Rauma, having previously performed in the six years the game his team as team captain on the ice.

Internationally

For Finland, Mikkola took part in the Junior World Championships in 1997, 1998 and 1999. In the 1998 U20 World Cup Mikkola won the World Cup with his team.
