Illugi Gunnarsson

Illugi Gunnarsson ( born August 26, 1967 in Siglufjörður ) is an Icelandic politician ( Independence Party ) and since 2013 Minister for Education, Science and Culture.

He graduated in 1987 Menntaskólinn í Reykjavík, reaching our higher education. Subsequently, he studied economics and received from the University of Iceland in 1995 and a bachelor's degree in 2000 from the London Business School, a MBA degree.

Since 2007 he is member of the Icelandic parliament Althingi, from 2007 to 2009 for the constituency of Reykjavík South and since 2009 for the constituency of Reykjavík North. He was chairman of the parliamentary group of the Independence Party and Chairman of the Icelandic delegation to the Nordic Council. After the parliamentary elections in Iceland in 2013, he was on May 23, 2013 Minister of Education, Science and Culture in the Cabinet Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson.
