Illzach

Illzach (Alsatian Illzig ) is a French town in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the district Mulhouse, Mulhouse Alsace to Agglomà and is the capital (French: chef- lieu) of the Canton of Illzach. With 14,679 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Illzach is the fifth largest city of the department of Haut-Rhin.

Geography

Illzach is located on the Ill, bordered north of Mulhouse and is thus part of the conurbation Mulhouse. The southeast of the municipal area, which extends as far as the Rhine - Rhône Canal, is characterized by commercial areas. Due to the metropolitan area leads the Autoroute A36.

Neighboring municipalities are (clockwise from north): Witten Home, Sausheim, Rixheim, Riedisheim, the City of Mulhouse and Kingersheim.
