Ilmar Kullam

Ilmar Kullam ( born June 15 1922 in Tartu, Estonia; † November 2, 2011 ) was a Soviet basketball player and coach of Estonian origin.

Sports Performance

1938 Kullam began his athletic career. 1947, 1951 and 1953 he was European champion with the national basketball team of the USSR. In 1949, he won the Soviet Championship. Four times he was Estonian champion in basketball, three times as a coach. Ilmar Kullam won the silver medal at the Summer Olympics in Helsinki in 1952 with the Soviet basketball team. From 1960 to 1975 Kullam worked at the sports club Tartu Kalev. In 1999 he received the Estonian Sports Award for his life's work.

Private

Ilmar Kullams wife Valentina was Soviet basketball national team under her birth name Nazarenko. Their daughter Oksana, also basketball player, is the wife of the spear thrower Heino Puuste.
