Ilocos Norte
Ilocos Norte is a province in the Philippines in Ilocos region on the main island of Luzon. The provincial capital is Laoag. The province is bordered by other provinces, such as Cagayan and Apayao to the east, and Abra and Ilocos Sur to the south. West of Ilocos Norte lies the South China Sea, to the North Luzon Strait and the east, the province bordering the Philippine Cordilleras. Current governor since 1998, the son of former dictator Ferdinand Marcos. In the field Ilokano is mainly spoken.
Ilocos Norte is not only known for being the birthplace of former President Ferdinand Marcos but also for its sandy beaches, like Pagudpud, located in Kalbario - Patapat National Park.

Attractions
In the municipality of Paoay is the old Spanish church of St. Augustine which is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO ( in addition to three other Baroque churches). The Paoay Lake is designated as a National Park.
