Ilocos Sur

Ilocos Sur is a province in the Philippines Ilocos region on the main island of Luzon. The capital city of Ilocos Sur Vigan is. History

Ilocos Sur was founded by the Spanish conquistador Juan de Salcedo in 1572, two years later landed the Chinese pirate Lima Hong with 3,000 men in the region.

In the wake of the British invasion of the Philippines, at the end of the Seven Years' War, it was 1762/63 riots in the province. These were led by Diego Silang and his wife Gabriela. Her biggest success was the capture of the city of Vigan.
