Geography

Course

The Ilse rises on the slope of the 278 m high Bickpleckens and flows from its origin, first in south-easterly direction, passes through Welstorf and Kirchheide, reached Bredaerbruch and Entrup. From around the stone mill, south of Entrup, the Ilse flows from then to the west, flows through Leese and flows from there to the south and empties into Lieme at Bega kilometer 12 in the Bega. The Ilse flows exclusively on the territory of the town of Lemgo.

Environment

Water quality

2001 was the Ilse in the upper reaches, below the confluence of the Taller Bach, heavily polluted ( water quality class III) and improved their water quality to the mouth of the Bega on water quality class II ( moderately polluted ). According to research from 2008 has almost the entire course at a moderate load (class II ). Only the mouth area has lower quality and the water quality class II -II ( critically polluted ) has been allocated.
