Ilse Steppat

Ilse Paula Steppat ( born November 11, 1917 in Barmen, † December 21, 1969 in Berlin) was a German theater and film actress.

Life

Ilse Steppat received her first engagement at the Municipal Theatre of Reydt in the fall of 1933. This was followed by appearances in Dusseldorf, Osnabrück and Oldenburg. In 1937 she became a member of the ensemble at the Volksbühne Berlin, with additional stations were the old theater in Leipzig, The Meininger Theater and shortly after the Second World War, the Hebbel Theater in Berlin.

When in 1947 with double the fate of the actor Joachim Gottschalk was filmed in the shade, she was the Jewish wife immediately a significant film role.

At times, the thespian was as a voice actress in action and lent example Lana Turner in The Three Musketeers her smoky voice.

In the sixties, Ilse Steppat played with in some Edgar Wallace films, such as The tomb with the puzzle palace, The sinister monk or the blue hand. It reached by great popularity in Germany.

The only English-language role played Steppat in the James Bond film On Her Majesty. In the first English language conversation between the actress and producer Albert R. Broccoli Steppat mistook engaged (English: engaged ) engaged with the Word. Nevertheless, she landed the role of the villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld henchman ( Telly Savalas ), also because director Peter R. Hunt held by Harry Saltzman (besides broccoli equitable owner of the production company Eon Productions ) actually favored Greek actress Irene Papas too sympathetic. Two days after the start of this film in German cinemas Ilse Steppat died of a heart attack. Her grave was located in the forest cemetery Dahlem in Berlin.
