Ilya Glazunov

Ilya Sergeyevich Glazunov (Russian Илья Сергеевич Глазунов; born June 10, 1930 in Leningrad) is a Russian artist.

Life

His father, Sergei Fedorovich Glazunov, was a historian. At the age of twelve years, Ilya Glazunov escaped from besieged Leningrad through the Road of Life. After the Second World War, Glazunov returned family returned to Leningrad. 1957 Glazunov organized his first exhibition in Moscow.

His works are characterized in particular by the influence of icons and religious issues of orthodoxy. Glazunov deals with historical, literary and religious themes. During the era of communism, he participated in the nationalist circles dissidents ( during perestroika, he became involved in radical nationalist movement Pamjat ); currently it is known as an advocate for the reintroduction of the monarchy and is considered one of the greatest living artist of Russia.

Glazunov is an enemy of democracy and supporters of the caste system, privileges and restrictions.
