Ilya Gorokhov

Ilya Vladimirovich Gorokhov (Russian Илья Владимирович Горохов; born August 23, 1977 in Yaroslavl, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player standing since April 2013, with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Ilya Gorokhov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Torpedo Yaroslavl, for the second team, he was active from 1992 to 1995 in the third-class Perwaja league. In the 1994/95 season he also made ​​his debut for the first team of Torpedo in the International Hockey League. In his only season he did use point - and unpunished. Subsequently, he was selected in the eighth round in the NHL Entry Draft in 1995 as a total 195 players from the New York Rangers, for whom he never played, however. Instead, the defender drafted in the 1995/96 season a regular place in Torpedo Yaroslavl in the IHL. At the beginning of the 1996/97 season he ran once on the International Hockey League for the Las Vegas Thunder. Then he won with his hometown club Torpedo Yaroslavl in the inaugural Super League Russian Championship.

The 1997/98 season began Gorokhov again with Yaroslavl Torpedo in the Super League, played in the rest of the season, however, for its league rivals Salavat Yulaev Ufa and Samara ZSK WWS. The 1998/99 season spent the former youth international at Torpedo Yaroslavl in the Super League, before he played in the following one and a half years for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. With his new team, he popped straight from the Wysschaja League, the second Russian league, to the Super League. In the summer of 2000, the right-handed shooter returned to Yaroslavl, which had changed its name to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the meantime. With his team he was Russian Champion in the 2001/ 02 season again. Following this success, he signed a contract with HK Lada Togliatti. The HK Lada he left, however, after only 29 games and was with his hometown club Lokomotiv Yaroslavl at the end of the 2002/03 season for the third time in his career, Champion of Russia.

From 2003 to 2009 was Gorokhov regular for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. After the crew had been taken to the 2008/09 season in the newly formed Continental Hockey League, he reached with locomotive in the KHL debut playing time right away the playoff final for the Gagarin Cup. In this, however, he succumbed to his team Ak Bars Kazan in the best- of-seven series with 3:4 victories. In the following season, he ran on for his former club Salavat Yulaev Ufa. In the season 2010/11 Gorokhov stood for Atlant in the KHL Mytischtschi on the ice and reached the playoff finals with Atlant, Salavat Yulaev Ufa by his team defeated. After this success Gorokhov was committed in May 2011 by OHK Dynamo, with whom he twice won the Gagarin Cup in the next two years. Then he returned to his hometown club back to Yaroslavl.

Internationally

For Russia Gorokhov took part in the World Youth Championship in 1996 and 1997, where he gave an assist in the latter tournament in six games.
