Ilyushin Il-46
The Soviet Ilyushin Il -46 (Russian Ильюшин Ил -46) was a twin-engine heavy bomber aircraft and was parallel to the Tu- 16 from the Development Office Tupolev.
As model for the also form Ilyushin Il -28 very successful, but we kept the new design a bit bigger. The wingspan was increased by about 9 m, the body length of about 10 m.
Designed was the Il -46 as its predecessor as a cantilever shoulder-wing monoplane with swept-back wings negative trailing edge, the height or vertical tail had a positive sweep. A pressurized cabin was also available.
Development beginning in 1951, the prototype first flew on August 15, 1952. Testing was uneventful, but the decision was ultimately for the more powerful Tu- 16th
