ImageJ

ImageJ is written in Java and therefore platform independent image processing and image processing program developed by Wayne Rasband, an employee of the National Institutes of Health. It is widely used for medical and scientific image analysis, for example the measurement of structures on microscopic images. The functionality of the program can be expanded by hundreds of plug-ins. In the pre-press is used for color space analysis.

The program and source code are public domain (public domain, open source) and may therefore be freely copied and modified by anyone or extended by Plugins. In addition, the API of ImageJ is designed so that ImageJ can be integrated as well as the image processing library in other programs themselves.
