Imaginary Cities

Imaginary Cities are a Canadian indie -soul duo from Winnipeg.

History

Singer Marti Sarbit and multi-instrumentalist Rusty Matyas met in 2009 at The Cavern, a club in Winnipeg, where Marti Sarbit with their Motowncoverband played a gig. Rusty Matyas, who is traveling with others as a live guitarist with the Canadian band The Weakerthans, was responsible as a live mixer for the band that evening. From the moment came together under the name Imaginary Cities. They produced in 2010 their debut album Temporary Resident. The single Hummingbird was the harbinger of the album and reached the top of the Canadian College Charts.

There followed a tour of Canada. The Hamburg-based indie label Grand Hotel van Cleef became aware in late 2010 on the duo. Late January to mid-February, the band was on tour in Europe. The album ' Temporary Resident ' was released in late January in Canada and on March 25, 2011 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
