The Imam Hossein University (Persian دانشگاه امام حسین Daneshgah -e Emām Hossein ) is a university in the northeastern Tehran. She is one of the largest and most prestigious Iranian universities with approximately 6,000 students. It is organized in military and academic training institution of the Revolutionary Guards and the Iranian secret service.

Scientists, laboratories and projects of the Department of Atomic Physics probably work also on Iran's nuclear program.

History

The college was founded in 1986 as Imam Hossein University by the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. At its founding it had the faculties of engineering, science and social science.

In 1987, the university was supplemented by the Faculty of Medical Science. This was removed in 1994 and set up as part of the Baqiyatallah Medical Sciences University.
