Imari, Saga
Imari (Japanese伊万 里 市, -shi) is a city of Saga Prefecture on the island of Kyūshū in Japan. The city is the namesake of the produced in nearby Arita Imari porcelain.

Imari is located west of Fukuoka and Saga.
History
The city of Imari was established on April 1, 1954 through the merger of Imari (伊万 里 町) Yamashiro (山 代 町) and 7 other villages (东山 代 村,黒 川村,波 多 津 村,南波 多 村,大 川村,松浦 村and二 里 村) in the district of Saga Prefecture Nishimatsuura. In the old Imari porcelain goods manufactured in nearby Arita were shipped. Part of it went to Nagasaki and from there by ships of the Dutch East India Company (VOC ) to Europe. Here they were highly valued as Imari porcelain.
