Imazaquin is a chemical compound selected from the group of the imidazolinones.
Production and representation
Imazaquin can be obtained by a multistep reaction of o- aminobenzaldehyde or aniline.
Use
Imazaquin is used as a herbicide. It is used for pre-and post-emergence control of a wide range of weeds including annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf plants. Imazaquin was introduced in 1986 by American Cyanamid in the United States. The effect is based on inhibition of acetolactate synthase. It is the lipophilste the imidazolinones and is therefore absorbed most rapidly in the plant.
Admission
Imazaquin is approved in the European Union as an active ingredient.
