Imelda Staunton

Imelda Mary Philomena Bernadette Staunton, OBE (born 9 January 1956 in London, England, UK ) is a British actress.

Life

At only 29, Staunton won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in A Chorus of Disapproval and The Corn is Green. As an established star of the stage in the West End Staunton occurred in 1986-1988 the Royal Shakespeare Company and earned critical acclaim wide again (her starring roles in Uncle Vanya and The Wizard of Oz in 1988 for another two Laurence Olivier Awards nominated ). After 1990 Stephen Sondheim From had prevailed in the forest as a musical hit of the season, Staunton was rewarded with a second Olivier as Best Actress in a Musical.

After she appeared in small roles in TV and movies since 1987, she has been nationally known for her starring role in the television series Up the Garden Path and made as a supporting actress in hit films such as Antonia & Jane, Much Ado About Nothing, Sense and Sensibility, Shakespeare in Love attention.

Your biggest success on the big screen had Staunton with Mike Leigh Vera Drake, at the Venice Film Festival and premiered in 2004.

From March to September 2012, she stood as Mrs. Lovett in the musical Sweeney Todd at London's Adelphi Theatre on the stage.

Awards

For her role as Vera Drake Imelda Staunton won the award for Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival. She received additional trophies from the film critic from Chicago, London, Los Angeles, New York City, San Diego, Seattle, Toronto and Vancouver for this role.

She was awarded the British Academy Film Award, the Chlotrudis Award and the European Film Awards. Furthermore, she was nominated in 2005 for a Golden Globe and an Oscar.
