Immaculate Fools

The Immaculate Fools were a British alternative rock band from Kent.

Band History

The set of the pairs of brothers Kevin Weatherill ( lead vocals, guitar), Paul Weatherill was founded in the fall of 1983 ( bass ), Peter Ross ( drums) and Andy Ross ( guitar and keyboard) in Kent / England and in 1984, on one of their pub - discovered gigs by Tim Robinson. In September 1984, the Fools released their first single, the song " Nothing Means Nothing " and were among the top 75 of the singles chart. At the turn of 1984/1985 was followed by their debut album " Hearts Of Fortune" which is equal to a top- 40 hit with the title track contained in the UK, supported by the successful performance of the Fools at Channel 4 's Euro Tube Song Contest. The single " Immaculate Fools " reached the Top 60, followed by the fourth coupled- single "Save it". After a successful tour, the Spanish tour had to be interrupted on stage due to an inflammation of the pancreas for 6 months because of the collapse of the Lead Singers, which was interpreted by the music press as a drug accident, released their critically acclaimed (including 5 star in the prestigious Sounds Magazine) second album " Dumb poet" with the 3 singles " Never Give Less Than Anything", "Wish You were Here" and " Tragic Comedy". latter, in the style of Psychedelic Furs composed, song was a minor hit in college radio. As a result, the band toured with Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop, Simple Minds, the Stranglers and the Rolling Stones.

Prior to the proposed visit of the Dumb- Poet- Tour to the U.S. East Coast Andy Ross left the band and had to be replaced for the remainder of the tour of Brian Betts (guitar and mandolin ). To make matters worse, the Fools lost their record contract and therefore the sponsor for the tour because of structural changes at A & M in the current tour. But with Barry Wickens (violin, dulcimer, acoustic guitar and accordion) joined in the ongoing tour of another multi-talented the band, which was to mark the following sound of Fools critical. 1989 returned the Fools of the tour back to England and started after re- enforced break due to health problems of lead singer with the recordings of their third album, given that even Peter Ross got out, with the new band members Paul Skidmore (drums) and Ian Devlin (keyboards ). " Another Man 's World" with the three singles " Sad ", " The Prince " and " Falling Apart Together " is considered by many critics as the best album of the Immaculate Fools and a milestone in the Folk-/Rock-/Alternative-Musik. In Britain rather unnoticed, it was awarded in Spain with gold.

Also, the 3 Series albums showed that the Fools with their musical mix of pop, celtic folklore, folk and alternative rock, were more successful in Germany and especially in Spain, where they reached superstar status since the 90s. The wide acceptance in Spain was among other things also the reason why the band's late 1980s gave the recording studio in London built and settled in the early 1990s in the Catalan region to set up her studio in the house.

In the published 1992 album "The Toy Shop " dominated beside folky sounds of guitar driven indie rock. With keyboardist Ian Devlin the Fools had again just left a band member. Following the album release, the band went as support of Ron Wood again on America Tour. Among the American college radio very successful single " stand Down " was produced by Sam Beyer, the director of Smells -Like - Teen -Spirit - clips of the band Nirvana, a video. And again the Fools were terminated while on tour from the record deal.

In 1994 appeared the predominantly recorded with acoustic instruments in Woodhouse Studios in Spain album " Woodhouse " (1995 reprint with Cooking Vinyl ), where Nick Thomas to have alighted drummer Paul Skidmore replaced. Besides composed exclusively of Kevin Weatherill songs but the album for the first time two Cover versions, namely the Beatles song "Rain" and the Nick Cave classic "The Ship song". Two years later, the Immaculate Fools recorded their sixth and final album., in stark contrast to the harmonic and folky - acoustic previous album was " Kiss And Punch ", the album title and title of the only single release from electrically - rock and bulky arranged songs. After a successful tour of Germany Kevin Weatherill said in 1997 his departure from the band. He wanted to devote from now on as a solo artist his musical roots, the blues. After getting Weatherills the Immaculate Fools dissolved.
