Immensa Aeterni Dei

With the Apostolic Constitution Immensa Aeterni Dei from January 22, 1588, Pope Sixtus V, after the Council of Trent ( 1545-1563 ), new congregations and led by a reclassification of existing congregations.

About the Roman Curia

The Pope acknowledges that it is important for the distribution of tasks within the Roman Curia, use responsible and competent staff. This especially under the aspect that he does not " under the burden of work" would collapse, but, with God's help the work would be circulated to the employees.

Sacred Congregation of Rites

The Pope continued the " Sacred Congregation of Rites ", which should perceive the task to draw up standards for the practice of worship and perform the Saints. Its present name is the Congregation for the Causes of Saints

Congregation for Bishops

Another addition to the Roman Curia was the foundation of the Congregation for Bishops, which reports directly to the Pope ( Consistorial ) was subordinated.
