Immerath, Rhineland-Palatinate

Immerath is a municipality in the volcanic Eifel region of Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Daun. Immerath is a nationally recognized tourist.

Location

Immerath lies to the east of the nature reserve "Between Ueß and Kyll ". In the south of the municipal area is the designated as a nature reserve Immerather Maar, two kilometers west of the larger Pulvermaar; one kilometers east runs the valley of Ueßbachs. To Immerath includes the residential places Heckenmühle, Immerathermühle and Scholzenhof.

Immerath located 20 km southeast of the town of Daun and about 22 km west of Cochem on the Mosel. The immediate neighboring towns are Gille field Strotzbüsch and Lutzerath. On the outskirts of Immerath the B 421 runs in Mehren near Daun is connected to the A 1 Koblenz - Trier.

History

In the district of Immerath, east of the local situation (hall " On the Thomheck " ), in the early 1930s, the foundations of a Roman villa have been excavated. Because of shards finds the villa has been dated to the 3rd-4th century. The main house was home to fifteen rooms and had a frontage of forty to fifty meters and a depth of about forty meters. The system was only partially excavated and then re-buried. It has been found, among other things, a marble statuette of the god volcano located in the Landesmuseum Trier.

The first mention of Immerath ( " Emgramenrode " ) is found in a charter of King Conrad III. , When he on August 1, 1144 after the death of the Count Palatine William the monastery Springiersbach his rights and possessions confirmed and took it under his protection.

Parish council

The local council in Immerath consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Attractions

The place is nestled in a Maarkessel. In a historic bake house (early 18th century ) a small school museum is housed. On the northern edge of the crater there is a long distance away the Trinity Chapel. Through the village, which extends almost along the main street, no through traffic flows.
