Immersion blender

A hand blender, stick blender, blender or hand blender also is an electrical device for use in the household. In the grip of the device is a powerful electric motor with high rotation speed (about 10,000 to 12,000 rpm, sometimes up to 20,000 rpm ) housed. This motor drives a rotating blade at the bottom end of the device.

Pürierstäbe suitable for pureeing fruits and vegetables like to mix with liquids for whipping egg whites and dairy products, and the small cut meat.

History

1950 reported the Swiss Roger Perrin Jaquet to a " appareil ménager portatif " ( portable kitchen appliance ) for a patent. According to the subsequent manufacturer ESGE becoming the first hand blender in the world has been described. The company ESGE founded in 1953 - named after the initials of its founders Spingler and Gschwend ( " There " and "Ge" ) from Neuffen - acquired the patent in 1954 and brought in the following year the first hand blender under the name " ESGE Wand of housewife " on the German market, from the beginning of the 1960s the unit was then referred to as " ESGE wand ". In Switzerland, the device under the name " Bamix " was distributed. Its name comes from the French words battre et mixer ( beat and mix / mix ) together. The product is sold to date in a slightly different presentation and in several variants under the name " ESGE wand " and since 1971 exclusively in Switzerland ( in Mettlenstrasse, community Bussnang ) produced by the ESGE AG.

Variants

To facilitate the purification of a blender, there are products with removable liquidiser attachment. The bell on the liquidiser attachment, in which the rotating blade is may be provided with lateral openings. Easy to clean are devices without openings, according to the manufacturer, less spatter will occur. Simple devices have only one switching stage. In order to produce a fine chyme possible, however, many products are equipped with two to three stages.

The terminal value of immersion blenders for home use is between 50 and 600 watts. There is also wireless products with built-in battery and charger, with lithium -ion technology. Since this is an electrical appliance, the handle should only be cleaned with a damp sponge, a removable foot is usually dishwasher safe.

Higher-quality devices allow the use of additional parts. For some devices there are different caps to assist in the blender for whipping cream, Teigrühren can use and the like. Similarly, there is as an additional example Universalzerkleinerer for chopping herbs, onions, nuts, cheese, meat, etc., or attachments for grinding seeds or coffee beans. For some products, the motor can even be used as a vacuum pump for food preservation.

Hand blender is also available as an accessory ( top parts) for electric hand mixers.

In chemistry laboratories, a dispersing stirrer ( IKA Ultra - Turrax) is mainly used for homogenization in sample preparation and the preparation of emulsions, nano- suspensions or extracts. With such homogenisers efficient cavitation effects and shear forces act (including ultrasound) in a narrow gap between a rotor and a stator.
