Immunity

The term immunity refers to:

  • The insensitivity of the organism to antigens, pathogens and toxins, see Immunity (medical )
  • The protection of elected officials and foreign dignitaries from prosecution, see Political immunity
  • In diplomacy, the protection of ambassadors, envoys, Embassy employees and their family members from criminal, civil and administrative prosecution in the host country, see Diplomatic Immunity (to protect the embassy building see extraterritoriality )
  • In church history ( cf. Ecclesiastical immunity): the exemption of ecclesiastical persons and goods from secular services and charges
  • The access restriction secular law on ecclesiastical possessions or places, see also asylum ( sanctuary )
