Imogene Coca

Imogene Fernandez de Coca (* November 18, 1908; † 2 June 2001) was an American comedy actress.

Life

It started as Kinderakrobatin in Vaudeville, then studied ballet and wanted to start a serious career in music and dance. Ultimately, she toured for decades by musical revues, cabaret and seasonal theater performances. In the 1940s, she became an acclaimed comedian on TV, starred in six television series and toured regularly until the 1990s successfully in television programs. In addition to variety, cabaret, theater and television, she appeared in films, and said children's cartoons and appeared in an MTV video of a New Wave band. Twice widowed Coca died in 2001.

Awards

She was nominated for five Emmy Awards for Your Show of Shows and won him best actress in the year 1951. 1953 she received a Peabody Award for excellence in broadcasting. Coca was also nominated in 1978 for a Tony Award for On the Twentieth Century and at the age of 80 years for a sixth Emmy for her role in Moonlighting.
