Impala Platinum

Impala Platinum Holdings ( Implats ) is a South African mining group headquartered in Illovo, Gauteng.

Implats produced especially platinum, but also nickel, copper and cobalt.

Corporate activities

Impala operates mining, refining and distribution of metals, particularly platinum in South Africa ( four mines ) and Zimbabwe ( two mines ). The most important mines are in the Bushveld Complex in South Africa and the Great Dyke in Zimbabwe. Overall, the company has reserves of 218.5 million ounces of platinum and has produced 2007 2 million ounces. Impala is involved in exploration projects in Botswana, Mozambique, Madagascar and Canada.

The Implats shares are listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. In 2008 the newly created S & P Africa 40 Index Implats is the company with the third-highest weighting.

Implats is the part of South African Trade Unions in the review, the staff to reward bad and to disregard the labor protection laws.
