Impavido-class destroyer

The Impavido class was a class of destroyer of the Italian Navy. The class consisted of the multi-purpose vessels from 1963 to 1991 located in service

  • Impavido ( D 570 ) (type ship)
  • Intrepido (D 571 ).

It was an improved Indomito class and the first Italian-built guided missile destroyer. The main task of this in Riva Trigoso (Genoa ) and Livorno built ships lay in the management of small fleets, and, in particular against attacks from the air in their defense. They divorced in 1991 from active service and were replaced by two destroyers of the De la Penne class.

Ancestor class

From 1913 to 1937 there was also a slight Italian destroyer (or 1929 Torpedo boat) with the name " Impavido ", the 7 sister ships ( Ardente, Ardito, Indomito, Impetuoso, Insidioso, Intrepido, irrequieto ) the Indomito class was formed.
