Imre Szabics [ imrɛ sɒbiʧ ] ( born March 22, 1981 in Szeged ) is a retired Hungarian football player.

Career

Association

His professional career began in the striker in 1998 at the Hungarian Club Ferencvárosi TC in Budapest. Thereafter moved Szabics 1999 SK Sturm Graz in Austria. VfB Stuttgart took him in 2003 in the Bundesliga. There he had for a good season on the side of Kevin Kuranyi in the season 2004/ 05 increasingly held the reserve role.

Despite current contract Szabics moved at the age of 24 years for the 2005/06 season to newly promoted Bundesliga 1 FC Cologne because he hoped there more missions. The cost was there an injury unhappy and Szabics had the football in 2005 due to a lengthy pubic bone injury prematurely and also managed in the second half not, to fight for a regular place. For the 2006/07 season, the striker moved to Bundesliga 1 FSV Mainz 05, where he missed due to injury half of the first round, but he fired directly into his second game from the beginning, the first goal. However, he did not develop the hoped- scorer and came mainly in the second half as the Joker used. After the 2006/ 07 season Szabics moved to FC Augsburg. During the summer break in 2010 Szabics returned to Sturm Graz. The Hungarian signed a three -year contract. In his first game for the Grazer on matchday, he scored on 17 July 2010, two goals in a 3-0 win at SV Ried. At the end of the season the Hungarian with Sturm Graz Austrian champion.

The two-footed center forward scored in a total of 80 Bundesliga games 17 goals, 14 of them for VfB Stuttgart. Szabics was with Ferencvaros Budapest Hungarian runner-up, with the SK Sturm Austrian champion and runner and participated in both Stuttgart and with assault in the UEFA Champions League. His appearance was probably the biggest Szabics in the Champions League match between VfB Stuttgart and Manchester United, where he scored the 1-0 for the Swabians and prepared the 2:0 Kevin Kuranyi. VfB won the match 2-1.

In October 2013 Szabics ended his active career and has since worked as a scout for Sturm Graz.

National

Szabics was active in various youth Hungarian National selections. His debut for the Hungarian national team, he announced on April 30, 2003 against the Luxembourg national team, scoring two goals. In the same year he was elected one of Hungary's Footballer of the Year.
