Imus

Imus ( officially: Municipality of Imus; Filipino: Bayan ng Imus ) is a Philippine municipality in the province of Cavite.

History

In the early 17th century was part of Imus Cavite el Viejo, now Kawit. The founding as an independent municipality was on 3 October 1795.

Imus was the site of the great victories Katipunero during the Philippine Revolution against the Spanish Empire. The Battle of Imus was held on September 3, 1896 and the Battle of Alapan on May 28 as 1898, in which the flag of the Philippines was hoisted for the first time. This is celebrated annually in Imus. The Imus Historical Museum depicts the history of the township and shows lifelike scenes of the Philippine Revolution.
