Through desert and jungle is a 2-part Polish adventure film by the Polish director Władysław Ślesicki from the year 1973 and as such the Erstverfilmung on the novel by Henryk Sienkiewicz, denominated the second theatrical version in 2001, directed by South African director Gavin Hood and under the somewhat different Title desert and Wilderness was created.

Through desert and jungle was in Egypt, shot in Sudan and in Bulgaria and was in Germany from the summer of 1975 in the GDR cinemas and in April 1977 ( under the title " Desert and Wilderness ") in the ZDF to see.

1974 was also built with partially enhanced content and scenes not included in the theatrical version, a 4-part TV series with the same title.
