In God we trust

In God we trust ( "In God We Trust" ) is a motto of the United States, which was added in 1956 by a declaration of the Congress of the Latin phrase E pluribus unum ( " Out of many one ").

The formulation goes back to a row in the American national anthem, The Star- Spangled Banner, which states: And this be our motto: ". In God is our trust"

The background to this decision was the Cold War and the effort to emphasize the unity of the American people against the "godless communists". Was initiated by the declaration by the Dixiecrat and Congressman Charles E. Bennett, a member of the inner leadership circle of the anti-Communist oriented elitist fundamentalist network International Christian Leadership ( ICL), which seeks a ruling on a Christian foundation and principles through Christian nation.
