In heaven there's no beer (English: In Heaven There Is No Beer, Spanish: En el Cielo No Hay Cerveza ) is a German drinking song. The lyrics was written by Ernst Neubach. In 1956, the song by Ralph Maria Siegel was premiered. The song was originally composed The fisherman from Lake Constance in 1956 by Ernst Neubach and Ralph Maria Siegel for the German film. The Two Ton Baker translated the German language into English drinking song, controversial, however, whether Joe Trolli and Frankie Yankovic also participated in the translation.

Influence

The drinking song served as an inspiration for the title and the content of the Sundance Film Festival winner In Heaven There Is No Beer? from 1984, where further also the drinking song Who Stole the Kishka? is used.

Uses at sporting events

The song is sometimes very popular in the United States because it is often demonstrated on sports events of all kinds, especially in the sporting events in the universities, where the song is always played by the respective school band. For some universities, like the University of Iowa, the song became the anthem is played after each victory of their team. In the University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin, the song was also the anthem.
