In persona episcopi

Unio in persona episcopi ( "union in the person of the bishop " ) is a Latin expression of the Roman Catholic Church law, featuring a form of union of two or more dioceses. The dioceses are headed by a single bishop, but experienced no change in their diocesan structure (eg, seminaries, cathedrals, canon ). It is the mildest form an association which may be temporary, but also an intermediate step on the way to an association aeque principaliter or a complete union.
