In Vain (band)

In Vain is a Norwegian metal band from Kristiansand, which was founded in 2003.

History

The band was founded in 2003. After the group had released their first two EPs, they signed in 2005 an agreement with Indie Recordings. Two years later, her debut album, The Latter Rain, could be heard on the 20 guest musicians. The release was followed by a European tour together with Battered and Vreid. This joined appearances at various festivals on, such as the Inferno Metal Festival Norway before work began on the second album, released in 2010 under the name mantra. 2013, joined the album Ænigma.

Style

The first two EPs were still strongly influenced by the Black Metal. In the later albums grew mainly items from the Doom, Death and Progressive Metal. The songs deal with topics such as the Mississippi River or the escape attempt of the people of the Nez Perce tribe from their compulsory reserve to Canada. Besides Death and Doom elements, the debut album The Latter Rain on influences from the Epic Metal. In addition, some foreign genre instruments such as organ, wind instruments or a saxophone and samples are used. On the album Mantra dominated mainly of Progressive Metal, with influences from death and black metal can be heard. Ænigma is described as a mixture of black and progressive metal and is compared with Enslaved.
