The Belgian- Brazilian InBev Group (formerly Interbrew ) went on in November 2008 through the acquisition of Anheuser- Busch Companies in the Anheuser -Busch InBev.

She was in terms of sales (2007: EUR 14.43 billion ) and the total emissions (2007: 270.6 million hl), the largest brewery group in the world ( ahead of SABMiller ). The merger of Interbrew and AmBev was announced on 3 March 2004. The result was the world's largest brewing companies.

The InBev Group employed 89,000 people in 30 countries in Europe, America and Asia. The Group's head office was in Leuven (about 20 kilometers east of Brussels, Belgium). Since 1 July 2006, the Office for Central and Eastern Europe had its headquarters in Moscow. In addition to the well-known German brands such as Beck's, Diebels, Hasseroeder, Franciscans and Löwenbräu belong to it more than 200 other beverage companies. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization ( Ebitda ) was climbed in 2007 by 26.1 percent to 5.324 billion euros. The sales growth was primarily driven by the Latin American and Eastern European market.

Breach of competition law

2007 was InBev - involved in a competition procedure of the European Commission for collusion in the Dutch beer market in the years 1996 to 1999 - in addition to other Dutch brewers or subsidiaries of Grolsch, Bavaria and Heineken. In the process, which was completed in April 2007, InBev appeared as a witness and therefore went unpunished; against the competing fines in the amount of approximately 274 million euros have been imposed.
