Inca Roca

Inca Roca, in Peruvian Quechua case Inca Ruq'a, was the sixth ruler of the kingdom of Qusqu ( Cusco ) and the first with the title Inka ( around the year 1350).

Inca Ruq'a was able to build on a secure rule of the Incas throughout Qusqu. He counted himself as the first Inca emperor to Hanan Qusqu (upper Cuzco ), probably because his mother Cusi Chimbo ( Kusi Chimpu ) came from there. A rebellion of the nobility of Hanan Qusqu to have caused this change of power in which the rightful heir and half-brother of Inca Ruq'a, Quispe Yupanqui ( Qispi Yupanki ) was murdered.

As early as the reign of Inca Ruq'a there was armed conflict with the Chankas. He extended the sway of the Incas on places to 20 km away from the capital Qusqu.

Inka Mama Micay Ruq'a married, daughter of the chief of Huallacan ( Yucay ), which earned him the heir apparent Titu Cusi later Huallpa ( Titu Kusi Wallpa ) gave birth.
