Incontinentia pigmenti achromians

The hypomelanosis Ito ( Ito syndrome, Incontinentia pigmenti Achromians ) is a very rare congenital irregular distribution of the coloring pigment cells of the skin that occurs with certain chromosome number variation. In addition, other disorders can occur, such as mental retardation, patchy hair loss, seizures. The skin is striped bright spells, which are patterned and occur on the trunk and the arms and legs. The spots follow the growth lines of the skin ( Blaschko lines).

The incidence of the disease is given between 1 to 8,000 and 1 in 10,000. It was named after the discoverer and describer Minor Ito ( 1952).
