IND Crosstown Line

The IND Brooklyn-Queens Crosstown Line, short IND Crosstown Line or Crosstown is a subway line in New York City, USA. It connects the district of Long Iceland City in Queens County with Downtown Brooklyn and is used exclusively in the line G ( G service). The Crosstown runs to the east of the East River and is thereby the only main line of the New York subway, which does not pass through Manhattan. Your recognition color is bright green, which is why the G line is also the only New York City subway line that carries this color.

The Crosstown has been planned since 1922 and finally built the framework of the Independent Subway and opened in two stages between 1933 and 1937. The track is 7.1 miles ( 11.42 km ) long, has 13 stations and runs entirely underground. Notable crossed neighborhoods are Greenpoint ( Brooklyn ), Williamsburg and Clinton Hill.
