The Independence Skirt [ ˌ ɪndɪpendəns rɑk ] ( German independence rock ) is an approximately 36-meter- high granite rock on the banks of the Sweetwater River in the southwest of Natrona County in the U.S. state of Wyoming. Middle of the 19th century was the rock a very popular and famous meeting place for immigrants who wanted over the Oregon Trail in the western United States. The settlers there celebrated the Fourth of July, as they are mostly passed on or about the 4th of July it.
